CHALLENGE YOURSELF => How good are you in math?

Are you a math magician..?? Are you really really good in counting?? Challenge yourself before you do this game with your pupils in class. I tried and I challenged myself but I only tried level 1 and level 2 addition so far..Teachers can use this game for warming up their pupils brain before we begin to teach..To cikgu-cikgu math DPS Ukong, I'm encouraging you to use this game during our "Reading program"..But we have to online to play this game..This game include the 4 basic operations. It has two levels. Level 1 consists 50 questions and we have to complete the questions in 2 min 30 sec, meanwhile in level 2, we have to complete 100 questions in 5 minutes It is fun and easy(if you are really good in maths, yeah, it is easy!!)..Test your speed brain.. How fast can you count? Do not use calculator. Do not ask for help from friends. Challenge and test yourself... Click on this link to play the game;

QUICKSHARE LAWATAN SAMBIL BELAJAR KE PEKAN TUTONG ( TAMU DAN PANTAI SERI KENANGAN )

I just want to share one of my most memorable favorite lawatan sambil belajar story. This trip was about giving a chance for them to explore other places beside of their kampong and opportunity to lower classes to get out, expose and gain more experience outside from their kampong as well. Nowadays most of the children never been to tamu even to pasar. Some of them might have been to pantai to have a picnic with their family and some of them might have never been there as there live in the rural area or maybe their parents dont have free time or opportunity to bring their children to the beach. So I took the opportunity to have an educational trip. Since our last day of school was on thursday and a tamu day in Tutong, I decided to make a trip to tamu and pantai. I presented my paperwork to Guru Besar and he approved it. As usual, I know what to do next. Here are several reasons why I want to post and share my schools trip story in this blog

  • rural area
  • lower classes ( PRA - Year 3 : 45 pupils and 8 teachers )
  • Experiental Learning *refer to TALK/SHARE/OPINION INFO SECTION sidebar*.
Thanks to her, the children ( even myself as well) knew something about Kampong Lubok Pulau at that time.

Thanks kepada penjual - penjual di bahagian sayur-sayuran dan buah- buahan as they were very friendly and helpful to our pupils. Secara tidak langsung, they were increasing their confident level. They were experiencing with real and fresh items such as vegetables, fruits, plants and food ( dried and wet food ). They saw, heard, touched, smelled and tasted to gain knowledge and experience in their life. They also experienced and learnt to communicate and respect with other people.

Speaking of "tasted", the children did taste a fruit called belimbing "panjang"<== Cikgu Double A told the children it was "buah belimbing panjang". One of my pupils, Siti Nurazrina, she bit the "belimbing panjang" as if she was biting an apple. It was fun to bring children to tamu as their curiosity was high about things that they saw. They asked question to the foodstaller if they want to know the item that they haven't seen before. Teachers as well asked question to them by pointing to the item. I pointed to a plate of gingers and one of my favourite pupils, Shafiee, with his confident he put up his hand and shouted to me "teacher...saya tau, I know teacher...buah pinang teacher.." I tried not to laugh but I did because Cikgu A.H laughed out loud when he heard shafiee said "buah pinang"..."sayur lembiding" they said "sayur kobis"..Marlini, brightest pupils in year 1, she pointed to one item, "teacher, teacher, saya tahu ni namanya..this is tebu", i looked down and it was "sayur umbut " actually. This is one of the reasons and objectives of having educational trip to tamu.

" Berdisiplin " - Thanks to guru - guru yang mengajar di SR DPS Ukong kerana mendidik dengan baik dan ianya memang berkesan..i'm saying this because of the pupil's behaviour that day. They were well bahaved and it was easy for the teachers to monitor and look after them. We thought our pupils would behave like a monkey when they were buying some food. But they didn't, instead they were lining up to buy the food. For real, I didnt make up or exagerated the story. Cikgu A.H and I were standing with some children close to the wall ( 2 sinks attached to the other side of the wall ), Cikgu HNSHAA went to toilet with one of her pupils, Cikgu LY and Cikgu SHI were unseen because they were far away from us as well as Cikgu JD. Cikgu SP was talking with someone she knows. Meanwhile Cikgu A.A were monitoring pupils bought their food. Cikgu A.H and I were monitoring pupils bought their food as well but we just monitoring it from our standing zone which was quite close to the food stall where they bought their food. Only couples of PRA pupils misbahaved while we were waiting for the others to buy some food. Well good things happen to murid-murid as they berkesempatan melihat sendiri cara - cara membuat kuih melayu pada hari tersebut. " A lucky day for them"....Thanks as well to some of the food stallers yang memberi free food ( bersedekah ) to the pupils..Well at first they didn't want to take it but the foodstaller insisted them to take the food as her sedekah and yet they didn't take the food. They just smiled and shooked their head and walked away slowly. But then Cikgu A.A called them back and asked them to take the food as she was very very insisted. They took the food ( which was still hot ) and thanked to the lady. " Nah, lai..ambil ni...untuk kamu makan dalam bus nanti" => they were so lucky...

Our last destination was to Pantai Seri Kenangan Tutong and the pupils were very anticipated to see the beach. Once we arrived at the beach, I could see their happiness through their eyes and smile and I could hear their happiness through their voice, shouting " yeah yeah sampai sudah..."
" teacher, pantai teacher ..." ( as if I've never been to pantai before). As they get off from the bus they went straight to the playground and amazingly they still well behaved. They did take turn playing on the slides and swings. They didn't push their friends while waiting for their turn to slide down on the slide. They were taking care and helping each other that time. Children were shouting, laughing and gigling all the time, which are the common things we can hear when they are playing. Once again, syukur alhamdulillah , no bad things happen when we were at the playground. The children were having so much fun that moment. The teachers were sitting near, not far away from the children playing zone. Some of us took the opportunity to eat, nasi lemak, a common Bruneian food ( they took less than 5 minutes to finish their nasi lemak, hungry too the max cikgunya) and some of us were monitoring the children. It was such a nice day for all of us to relax and chatting among the teachers till we weren't realising the time was almost 10 o'clock, time to go back to school. Before we went back to school, we took some group photos as a remembrance for the 1st time of lower classes had educational trip to Pantai Seri Kenangan Tutong. On our way back to school, most of the children felt tired and sleepy on the bus. Tired but they did have fun, gain new knowledge, experience as well as valuable lesson that they will remember as their happy moment/memory in their life. Around 10.30 a.m, we arrived at our school. The children took turn to get off from the bus and they thanked to the bus driver.

Dikesempatan ini, I would like to thank to our Guru Besar and PPKDT II, PKDT II and PDT II for trusting and approved my proposal/idea and also to bahagian kenderaan pendidikan and pihak-pihak yang berkenaan. For me, it was a big success lower classes educational trip. Lastly here are some quotes I have found it interesting for us to think deeply.

“The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.”
By : Tom Bodett quotes

The only source of knowledge is experience”

“Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand.”
By : Chinese Proverbs quotes

The starting point of all achievement is desire.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.
- Albert Einstein

Here are videos I took during the educational trip. Sorry photos are unavailable because I didn't have a chance to upload/transfer photos from Cikgu A.A that day. We will post it kemudian. p/s: ignore the tr's voice. Have to tinggi suara sikit as keadaan begitu meriah di tamu pada pagi itu and hampir with microphone hp.

we could see their happy faces and hear their laughter as they were having fun experience with their friends.
